The ground is frozen over. A wintry white blanket covers the sleeping soil. The trees have finished their fall fashion shows and their winter hibernation is under way. The earth is resting. . . waiting. . . readying itself for the celebration that will occur with the onset of spring. At that time creation will again echo the ancient and faithful promise of resurrection, as that which was dormant and dead will spring to life and rejoice in its existence and Creator.
God is quieting my soul in the midst of this hurried Christmas season to contemplate the resurrection promised to me in Christ Jesus. Because He arose, I will also be raised on the last day. Because He arose, all the dead in Christ will one day rise. Because He arose, my life has meaning and purpose. As we celebrate His birth this season, may we be reminded of the death and resurrection we will celebrate at Easter.
O Come, let us adore Him on bended knee and let our tongues confess His worthiness as an act of worship, anticipating the day that is coming when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all. May our hearts, which have been frozen over and hardened by life's trials and pains and hectic rat races, be flooded with the warmth of the Son and melt in his loving presence. Surely, He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows and by His wounds we are healed. Christ is the friend that sticks closer than a brother when the storms of life attack. Set your heart at rest in His presence today. May God grant you peace and joy as you anticipate His return.
